FAKE!!!!!

How easily our lives get swept away by the fake world of borders and stock markets, advertisements and sports, being good-looking and looking good, the evening news and the morning newspaper, the talk shows and the reality tv, the national elections and the international ones, the wars and the freedom struggles.

How easily we make that business deal over there, matter to us so much that we develop ulcers over it. How effortlessly we get swept away in the world of distractions that surrounds us – till we forget to be with ourselves. Then – we are alone and we want the TV on, or that magazine to read. The distraction from life has now become life – while life looks on – hapless as an accident victim, the only witness to it too busy to take note and rescue it.

Almost nothing that touches us in real life is real. Almost nothing.

Money is fake. Countries are fake. Passport and Visas are fake. Stock Markets are fake. Deodorant and Perfumes are fake. Clothes are fake. Cars are fake. Sports are fake. Movies are fake. Advertisements are fake. Religion is fake. Godmen are fake. Promotions are fake. Laws are fake. Currency notes are fake. Banks are fake. Police and military are fake. Schools are fake. Colleges are fake. Degrees are fake and Ph.Ds are fake. Organizations and corporations are fake. Houses are fake. Rules are fake. All traffic signs are fake. Marriage is fake. Divorces are fake.

Almost everything that touches us in real life is fake. The things we care about, get high blood pressure over, cry, scream and wail over – are fake.

Money, passports, visas, bank-statements, insurance claims, bills – pieces of paper which we have agreed to mean something. Fake.

Promotions and Corporations – invisible designations in artificial constructions called organizations make us feel good or bad. Fake.

Degrees and Education – Spend so many years visiting the same buildings with the same people, sitting in the same rooms, pretending to study the same thing, answering the same questions, getting different marks and you have graduated. Learning – is optional. Fake.

God and Religion – A megalomaniac of a God, waiting to hurl punishments and the everlasting fires of damnation upon you if you dare to break his rituals, forget to remember him or worse still – pray to another god. A needy clingy monster egoist god who would not smile and bless you till you kneel in submission at him, for the rest of your life. By the way, he loves you. And he’s always a He. Fake.

Marriage – a fire, a ceremony, a party, a court-paper, a judge, two witnesses is what you need for marriage. Not understanding and compassion and growth and expansion and creativity and sensuality and love and laughter. A paper, with four signatures and a seal. Fake.

Divorce – a court proceeding, hurled accusations or amicable separations – must be legal. A couple married long ago – bored, stiff, unfulfilled, no conversations or love or laughter or sensuality, a limp resignation and cynicism about each other, hoping like hell to be somewhere else every minute they spend together – are still married, unless the paper says so. Fake.

Houses and Cars and other Toys – who you are is everything around you except you. Who you are is the house you live in, the car you drive, the mobile phone you use, the gadgets you own – You don’t exist, you have no inherent value – the Toys make the man. Fake.

Rules and Laws and Codes - Everything that is held sacred now, was up for sale once. Everything that was held sacred once, is up for sale now. Societies keep choosing the way they wish to live. And keep changing their choices. It gives workability, transient – in the moment – workability. Fake.

Countries – lines drawn on sand, grass, desert and across seas by an invisible hand-mind-gun invoke passion, fury, hatred, love, pride and breeds violence. Fake.

Then, what is real?

What is intransient and exists.

Music is not fake. Music is real.

Learning is not fake. Learning is real.

Love is not fake. Love is real.

Fear is not fake. Fear is real.

Courage is not fake. Courage is real.

Love, Fear, Courage, Learning, Music – is real. Is Life.

Interview Time..

Have been thinking for a long time that I'd interview a person and post the results in my blog. Its my first interview , and I know I hardly have two or three readers who read only when they get time. But one day I am sure when the count increases, when people come across this interview, they shall find it interesting. And I hope they get motivated towards the word called Seva.

So I started my search for the most deserving person whom I can ask right set of questions and get answers which are unexpected and they surprise me.

And at last I found the right man. He is Sandeep.

About : Worked as an Information Analyst, Consultant for huge MNC's. A mind blowing guitarist who could play chords which make you go crazy. He tried his hand on journalism too. And currently he is a senior social worker at Spoorthi Charity works.

In an accident which happened recently , he lost his right hand's index finger. The finger which is a key for most of the day to day applications. Like typing on a keyboard, holding a strong thing in hand with proper grip. And some rude ones use it to point out others mistakes. The most unfortunate thing was , the same finger he uses to play guitar. His life time passion. On which he setup many goals on. But he could not do it any more. His dreams were trashed. Most of the opportunities he got were gone now. His new guitar now is in his store room with heaps of dust on it. So?

What next??

He did not give up. He figured out a way. Please read on..

Q) Hey Sandeep. Heard a lot about you. How are you?

Response : I am fine Sri. Thanks a lot. Leading a very peaceful life. Its good to be a smile on innocent faces.

Q) Could you kindly brief me a bit about your foundation?

Response : Sure. Sphoorti is our platform to make a difference in the lives of children in need and distress. We also have a website. Its sphoorti.org. We teach them skills necessary to transform them into responsible citizens.

Q) Children in need and distress, could you please elaborate on it?

Response : Sure. Most of the children over here, they are orphans. But at spoorthi we have orphans who are disabled in way that their day to day life becomes miserable. And most unfortunately they lost their vital parts of the body in a very unexpected accidents which happened in their life.

Q) Oh, I am so sorry to hear that. So what did Spoorthi come up with?

Response : That's ok. Usually at rural areas , people who fall into such situations, commit suicides , thinking they cannot lead a disabled life any more. They are usually people with weak mind. At spoorthi we have similar kind of people. Especially they are children. We search and find them out, bring them here, understand their mentality first and then teach them ways to move on with regular life. We teach them alternatives. That's the key. At the same time, we entertain them a lot and comfort them in a way which makes them gain their interest back on life. And once we get confidence that the boy or girl is now confident enough to face the outside world, we let them go win the world.

Q ) Thats fantastic. So where did it all start sandeep? I heard you were a guitarist?

Response : It all started with an accident. But I am still a guitarist. In an accident I lost my index finger. And that was the high time. I was in middle of many film projects, Adds, contracts etc. And I lost all those opportunities. And I had to infact pay them back as a penality for wasting their time. I was very depressed. Doctor confirmed that the finger would't work any more. Its just boneless flesh and its a permanent damage. I felt very depressed and lost hope. It became hard for me to work with rest of my fingers. Even at work, in the software industry, I have had to face depressed situations.
That is when I thought of finding out or figuring out an alternative. Using index finger I used to play some super fast chords and strings, which is almost impossible to play with any other finger. But I practiced harder. I tried and tried. Was not 100% successful. But was 50% successful in using my other fingers to play the guitar in the same pace. Initially when I failed it was hard to digest. But eventually when I started seeing results , I started feeling good and a new ray of hope struck my mind.
And that made me think. For just an issue with finger I was depressed so much. How about people who have lost vital parts of their body? An entire hand or both the hands, both the legs etc. Their life is a punishment.

Me : Indeed it is Sandeep. Hard to even imagine. But they are leading it.

Sandeep : Yes. That is when I visited a few charity offices and hostles. Have seen people living with it. In a hardest way yes. But one thing is for sure. They cant do it alone. They need support. I took time, thought about it. 100's of times. And at last I said a good bye to my personal selfishness and have decided to baise my life for these people. I belong to them now. I joined Spoorthi.

Question : Absolutely. What personal qualities do you think are necessary for this type of work?
Response : Patience is the most vital factor. Results dont come rapid. People dont feel their life is worth it so easily. And above that they are innocent children. So we have to be very very patient.
Nextly, work life balance. Luckily Spoorthi has good amount of funds. Most of them come from NRI's. So we are able to concentrate on children properly and spend the entire time with them. But even though we are in trouble, we try to make sure that we are having good amount of concentration on children and we make sure we are holding our nerve.
The above are the two important factors.

Question : What is a typical day like?
Response : Its when we get a bunch of new kids with fresh wounds. Its hard to manage two to three children at a time. But we have figured out ways to make them feel better the very first day. We teach them alternatives. Like a kid who lost his right hand, we teach him to write with his left hand. And the person who lost both, we teach him to make use of his teeth. We atleast teach them to put their own signature.

Question : Thats a very tough task. You are doing a great job Sandeep. If you could give one piece of advice for beginning social workers, what would it be?
Response : Do it with a clear mind. Not for fame. Not to start your political career. Do it only if it makes you happy. Dont do it , because you have started it.

Question : What do you like about working with this population?
Response : I like when they progress. I like them any ways. The biggest achievement I have had was when a kid who lost his both hands, learnt to write with his right leg. He writes very well. Recently we made him join a school. He does pretty well. We are thinking we will make him learn to play foot ball. Hope it works.

Question : I think he surely will. You thought him skills to figure ways out. He will certainly make you proud. So last question, how old are you?

Response : ( Laughs ) I am 24.

Sandeep recieved many awards for his charity and motivation skills. One of the very decent men I have met recently. He is from a very wealthy family. son of a huge business tycoon. He lost his finger riding a heavy sports bike. He was like a guy next door, with a heap of curly hair whom we see in city rock bands. But he left everything and spends his entire time with children now. And earns 8000 rupees a month through that foundation. And that is what he uses to live. A simple life. Good people still exist.

Lesson learnt : I personally like to relate it with life analogy. We have many problems in life. Like a heart break, pain of love , fight with a friend, money , looks, skin tone , possesions, mind games , selfishness etc. But to be honest, they are all just a tiny line beside huge line. The actual huge line is the above interview. They are people who lead miserable life but still move on. They are orphans. They are uneducated. But they are STRONG. Stronger than us. We feel depressed for tiny things what life tinches us with. But be happy, that life has not yet given us the horrible pains. When it does, we would then understand that we wasted most of the crucial time of ours on useless things and pounding over it. Life is a very valuable thing. We are really lucky to be born normal and living normal. Lets make complete use of it and contribute a bit of it to the ones who are not normal as fate did not favor them with.

conversational hypnosis : Can do good or freak you harder!

Among the sacred texts of the Hindu
religion is a book called the Bhagavad Gita.

It tells the story of a royal prince,
Arjuna, who is called upon to fight
to regain his rightful throne, stolen
by rivals who happen to be relatives.

Before the battle, Arjuna is filled with
doubt and hesitates to fight his own kin.

The god Krishna appears as a charioteer named
Bhagavan to provide advice and guidance...

...and ultimately Arjuna follows his path
as the warrior and hero he was meant to be.

Fast forward to 1931 for the setting of
one of my favourite movies,

"The Legend Of Bagger Vance".

Set in Georgia, USA, it tells the story
of a young man, Rannulph Junuh.

He was once a promising golfer with a
glittering future ahead of him.

But traumatized after fighting in
the First World War, he returned home
to live a shadowy life as a drunk,
no longer interested in or seemingly
able to play golf.

Years pass and then one day he is
invited to take part in an exhibition
match involving the two best golfers of
that era, Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen.

Junuh's role is to make up the numbers and
add a "local boy" angle to the match.

He accepts the invitation after much
hesitation and starts to get ready
for the match.

While practicing, Junuh is approached by a
mysterious traveller called Bagger Vance.

Vance offers to caddy for Junuh, who
takes up the offer.

The rest of the movie tells how Vance
helps Junuh come to grips with his
personal demons...

...and play golf successfully once again
and with the passion he once had.

In other words Junuh follows his path as
the golfer he was meant to be.

It's a wonderful movie with many great
moments and insights along with some
delightful examples of conversational
hypnosis from Bagger Vance.

That's right, the wise Bagger very subtly
gives guidance and advice using many of the
same techniques you know as conversational hypnosis.

So it's well worth checking out the movie
to study those examples...and there's
another reason.

I'm not sure if everyone has a path or
destiny that they are meant to follow...

...but I know from my own experience
that some people certainly do.

And if that includes you, then you'll
never be truly happy or fulfilled unless
you do follow that path.

Only you know what's right for you.

Whatever that might be.

And that might include using hypnosis as
a force for good in the world.

But there are people in this world, who use the conversational
hypnosys for wrong purposes. Watch out!!

Don't let fear and doubt stand in your way.

The world would be a poorer place without your
contribution.

30 MM Prime, Focus on your balance

The emotional landscape of my life is a different universe than the intellectual landscape.

The rules that apply in one break down in the other.
The principles that define one are meaningless in the other.
What is well-formed in one is warped in the other.

They are different universes - neither opposite, nor the same. They cannot be 'similar' and one cannot be 'better' than the other. They are different.

It is possible for the intellectual landscape of my mind to be rich in choice while the emotional map remains impoverished. Typically this would manifest in me being very intelligent yet reactive, jealous, fickle, holding grudges, resentful etc.

It is possible for the emotional landscape of my mind to be rich in choice while the intellectual map remains impoverished. Typically this would manifest in me having trouble with logic and argument but having an ocean of tolerance, maturity, forgiveness and empathy.

Reality, Nature, Life - is rich in both. When we enrich our choices in both these landscapes, we truly live life. To live in only one landscape at the cost of the other is living only half a life.

I strive to nurture both these landscapes and have richness of choice in both.

Lesson learnt : " balance "

Roller Coaster - Get me off this!!!

Oh well, this is not a Disney land nor its a poor man's Essel World.

Then what is Roller Coaster doing on the top of my damn blog?

Simple! I stole this idea from a girl. :D ;)

Ok, here is where we start with the actual etymology..

There are several explanations of the name roller coaster.
It is said to have originated from an early American design where slides or ramps were fitted with rollers over which a sled would coast.

This design was abandoned in favour of fitting the wheels to the sled or other vehicles.

In many languages, the name refers to "Russian mountains". Contrastingly, in Russian, they are called "American mountains".

And as far as I am concerned, Or " we " are concerned, Roller Coaster gives us a clear visual of the life ride.

Ill tell you how, keep reading..

People are classified as strong and weak. Some of them have a capacity to withhold their inner stanch tight enough that they don't crumb when they reach the top and fall back down.

But the ones whose stanch is weak, they throw up!

Lets rewind and see what they have done before getting on the roller coaster.

They gulped the entire crisps which they had in their bags. They rinsed their coke. They wolfed down the ham burgers for lunch. Now their bellies are full! :D

So, is how a human, before getting into a situation, gulps him self with many expectations. Rinses his vision. Wolfs down his common sense and keeps his mind full.

But when they get on the actual roller coaster , other people would be shouting , " Aaaaahhh woooo woooooo," but we ? We cry, " Damn, get me off this!!"

And then after some time, the stanch gets dried and we throw up!!

So is life ! We have expectations, we have imaginations and fantasies.
It can be any situation like a job interview, love proposal , marriage etc.

They are more or less resemble a mental roller coaster ride. And with all those expectations in our mind, when we get on to it, strong ones sustain, but weak ones throw up.

The best thing to do , at that point of time, is to get on to the roller coaster empty stomach.

You will not puke and you will enjoy the same way how others are doing. As simple as that..

But, you see strong people, who have expectations in their mind and hearts. Who are capable enough to fight back and win their stuff.

You would certainly wanna become strong like them. So the alternative for expectations is to have hope and faith.

Have a hope that when you get into a situation empty mind, you get to learn lot many new things and you enjoy the ride. At the same time, have faith in your selves that, even though life would take you through different ups and downs, your target would be achieved safe and sound and you can hear praises, loud and clear!!

Life is a roller coaster ride, get on empty, come back full!
